Casa de Pilatos (Pilatos' House)
This merchantās palace dates from the 16th century and today is the most visited palace in Seville. Welcome, art and history lovers.
Youāll probably be wondering where the palace name comes from. It was baptized Casa de Pilatos because one of its owners, Don Fadrique, discovered that the distance between his house and a little church where the Station of the Cross ends was the same as the distance between Pontius Pilateās house and the Golgotha. Donāt tell the guide youāve been told the answer (shhh..).
For 6ā¬, unlimited access is provided to the ground floor. A central patio houses Greek sculptures and a fountain painstakingly decorated. You can wander around and discover more patios overflowing pottery items, sculptures and walls all dressed up in breathtaking mudejar tiles. Gardens, Renaissance columns and a dash of Gothic prove that blending styles works.
For 8ā¬, youāll also have access to the first floor where a guided tour through the residential area will be held (approx. 30 minutes). It houses a beautiful collection of paintings and ancient furniture.
