Palacio de los Marqueses de la Algaba

Next to one of the most historical of Seville’s street, Calle Feria, the Palacio de los Marqueses de la Algaba (Algaba Marquess’ Palace) is located. Not only will this palace impress you by its architecture but also it houses an on-site museum with collected Mudejar relics dated between 12th and 20th century.

Mudejar art (mudéjar in Spanish) is a style of art that resulted from the cohabitation of Christians and Muslims in Seville after the Reconquista. This small museum means the palace can also be called Centro del Mudéjar (centre of Mudejar art). It was built in the 15th century and it’s another perfect example of the harmonious blending of art styles: Mudejar, Gothic and Renaissance, sign of the cohabitation of different peoples in Seville.

On the ground floor, a dreamy patio with a central fountain welcomes visitors. Climbing the majestic stairs you’ll arive to the first floor which houses the Mudejar exhibition. There you’ll be amazed by more than 100 relics – clay vessels, tiles, wooden ceilings – and learn about this interesting style thanks to the captions (Spanish and English versions).

Food experience at Lonja de Feria

Stepping through the palace gates, you’ll bump into a traditional market. This market place is on the rise thanks to the initiative of creating a gastro space on site, the well known Lonja de Feria.

Mix with locals while having a caña (beer) under the sunny sky of Seville in the terrace and get the taste of a varied range of international tapas. Japanese, Mexican and traditional Spanish flavours are waiting for you. Don’t miss trying croquetas, paella or the traditional spinachs with chickpeas.

Drinks for 1,20€, tapas for 3€, main dishes for 8€; and our suggestion: 1 drink + 1 tapa for 3,5€. Not a bad price for such a tasty experience!

CALLE REGINA

Seville Soho

Discover Calle Regina, one of Seville’s sohos

Walking back to the city centre try to cross Calle Regina, one of Seville’s sohos and not a tourist spot. This street is one of the most trendy and picturesque ones of the city. Strolling around you’ll bump into very different kinds of shops. Handmade, artisan, independent, hipster or vintage are keywords there.

Have a look at Un gato en bicicleta bookstore (a cat on a bike in English), not a conventional bookstore at all. Pop-up displays, alternative decoration, tons of books and weekly workshops give life to this cool and versatile bookstore.

Address: Calle Regina, 8, Seville

Before you leave, wander into Dulce Regina, a very tiny and cute bakery specialised in yummy artisan cookies for 1 euro each. Choosing between its different and tasty creations – traditional chocolate chips, walnut & chocolate, three chocolates, orange & chocolate (mouth starts watering) isn’t an easy task. Get your coffee and a biscuit for only 2€! Have them on site or take them away.

Don’t miss this cultural hub!
